Design the LINk Logo - Awards Ceremony
April 21, 2009

We had a great time at Sheffield Town Hall in April when more than 70 people attended our event to collect their certificates, receive cheques and celebrate the fantastic entries in our Design the LINk Logo Competition.

Before handing out the awards, the Lord Mayor Councillor Jane Bird said "I think it's wonderful that Sheffield LINk got local people involved in designing its logo. It shows the talent that we have, and how good it is to involve the local community." She was also very happy to be made an honorary member of Sheffield LINk.

Congratulations to the winner, Curtis Galloway-Husbands, who donated his prize money to Sheffield Young Carers, of which he is a member. Receiving the cheque on behalf of SYC, Denise Anderson described Curtis as "really talented" and promised the group would spend the money doing something they wouldn't usually get to do. Curtis, who was just 13 when he won the competition and lives in Burngreave, is a great artist and a brilliant son spending a lot of time looking after his mother,

The competition, which ran between December 2008 and January 2009 , invited local people to design the logo for Sheffield LINk. Sheffield City Council generously donated prize money that winners could donate to the organisation of their choice.  We received almost 50 entries and had a public vote of the top 20 entries to find the winner.

The exhibition was held at our 'You're the Voice' event in Fargate and also in the foyer of The Circle for 2 weeks. More than 600 votes were cast and the below are the full results. The winning design was then transformed into the design used on all our materials by local illustrator and designer Paul Roberts.
