Ask Your Pharmacist Week (7-13 Nov)
October 31, 2011

Ask Your Pharmacist Week, which runs from 7th to 13th November, aims to raise public awareness of the range of services available at your community pharmacy.

The National Pharmacy Association is running the week, which has the theme 'more than medicines', to spread the message that you can now access a 'package of care not just a packet of pills' at your local pharmacy. Many pharmacies have consulting rooms where you can get free (NHS) medicinees advice and pharmacists are experts in medicines and can help you to get full benefit from your medication.

While not every pharmacy has every service, most will:

  • dispense medicines and appliances
  • give advice on healthy lifestyles including physical activity, smoking, healthy eating and safe alcohol use
  • signpost people to other health services and support
  • conduct NHS medicines check-ups for people with long-term conditions
  • deliver NHS promotion campaigns.

For more information about all the services available at community pharmacies, please go to Ask Your Pharmacist.
