Activities and Campaigns

Group of peopleSheffield LINk has important work to do representing the views of local people on health and social care services. As part of this we undertake a number of activities and campaigns around the issues that members bring to our attention.

Our programme of work for the year ahead is laid out in the LINk workplan (updated for the web quarterly).

We have a number of Action Groups running at any one time that are looking in detail at particular issues. At present we are looking in detail at Care Homes for Older People and will soon be starting to look at Unscheduled Care (non-planned appointments or admission to hospital).

Previous Action Groups including Equipments and Adaptations, Infection Control and Access to GPs continue to be monitored regularly. We also have a permanent Children and Young People's Committee that looks at the needs of this group in more detail.

LINks have some legal powers that enable us to influence local health and social care. The ones we use most frequently are to request information from providers and to carry out enter and view visits.

In addition to issues raised by our members, we also support consultations and involvement activities run by other organisations. These may take the form of us holding meetings of our members on particular topics or just publicising current consultations in our bulletin.
